(Waxahachie, Texas - Spring, 2013)
The Waxahachie ISD Education Foundation John Hicks Memorial Scholarship is currently awarding $500 annually to students pursuing a degree in journalsim. Requirements are as follows:

• Applicant must have been enrolled in Waxahachie ISD for his/her entire junior and senior years.
• Applicant must be planning to pursue a degree in journalism.
• An official high school transcript must be attached. Please make sure SAT score or ACT score is included on transcript.
• Attach a personal statement, no longer than one page, concerning your primary life aspirations and how your post high school education will aid in fulfilling such aspiration.
• Application and appropriate attachments must be submitted to the campus counselor's office by each year's deadline.

The deadline for application submission in 2013 is Friday, April 5, 2013. The applications are reviewed by the Education Foundation Scholarship committee and recipients are notified during the summer of their award if chosen. All funds are managed and distributed by the Waxahachie ISD Education Foundation.

*Scholarship: A form of financial assistance that does not require repayment or employment and which is usually offered to students who show potential for distinction, or who possess certain characteristics important to the scholarship provider (such as religious beliefs, hobbies, ethnicity, etc.).

With your support, we intend to continue offering this financial opportunity. Further, we hope to grow the scholarship value and provide more students with aid. All monies are awarded to students via the Education Foundation for Waxahachie.
